I have had to change my shirt because of a client’s tears have soaked the front of it. I’ve clean off snot and phlegm from really messy crying. Even though I have multiple boxes of Kleenex in my office, sometimes the client is so lost in their experience that it get forgotten.
Today, I had a male client leave my office. As he walked out the waiting room door I reached out to shake his hand. His response was hesitant because, “he was all snotty.”
I held my hand there anyways.
After a brief moment, he shook it.
Don’t be afraid to let a little bit of the mess get on you. It shows your clients that you’re not afraid of their pain. And when you’re not afraid, you give them the strength to continue on.
I'd love to hear from you, so leave a comment or connect on any of the various social media platforms.
